Review on πŸ’§ A&R High-Performing Sports Water Bottle by Fred Whitehead

Great bottle, highly recommend for sport

This is by far the best sports bottle we've bought. As a lacrosse coach, I recommend this type of bottle to all my players. The ability to drink while wearing a helmet means players can get on and off the field quicker or finish their water break quicker than boys who have to remove their helmets to drink from a standard water bottle. I also don't shy away from letting my child share their bottle as it can be squeezed to drink rather than sucking on a straw. The straw is pre-bent at the angle shown in the photo, the straw is barely flexible, but this stiffness makes it easy to use through any type of helmet (lacrosse, football, hockey, etc.). When the straw is fully inserted into the bottle, about 6 inches will stick out. The plastic that makes up the body of the bottle is also quite durable. This makes it easy for little hands to squeeze the bottle to push the drink through the straw (my 8 year old has no problem with this). A drinking bottle with a lid does not drip, you can leave it lying around or squeeze the lid upside down and nothing comes out of the lid or straw. The straw sits surprisingly firmly in the "hole in the lid". The lid is also ribbed, which is not easy to see in the picture, which makes it easier for sweaty hands to unscrew. l holds 32 ounces when filled to the top of the straight section of the bottle wall. It holds 36 ounces when filled to a millimeter below the rims. (Tip: If the bottle is really full, you can close it by grasping the hard part of the shoulder instead of the soft middle. You can also take out the straw by unscrewing the cap so you don't spill it at the top. ) What smell wise: bought two, didn't smell particularly bad when they arrived. But if you rub the bottles with a paste of water and baking soda, the smell will go away pretty quickly. You can also leave them overnight with water and a few tablespoons of baking soda. Or just let them air out naturally. I've had one of these for a little over a month and the other for a few months and now both don't smell like plastic anymore.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Poorly thought out
