Review on ๐Ÿ’ช Zoeller M53 Mighty-Mate Submersible Sump Pump - 1/3 HP - Enhanced SEO by Keyone Brownlee

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Incompatible with GFI schema

Due to the high ratings I bought this pump in September to use as an underground drain pump when it started raining in November. Right after I bought it I plugged it into a non-GFI circuit (my first mistake) and used it to empty buckets of water in the yard. Everything seemed fine. Thinking I had a quality pump, I started installing a sump and electrical wiring. I dug the hole, filled it with gravel, routed the wiring, installed the GFI circuit and hooked up the pump. Unfortunately, every time this pump tries to turn on, it breaks the circuit and won't start. When plugged into a circuit other than GFI with an extension cord, the pump performs like a dream. However, this is not a code, it is not secure and I am selling my house. Judging by the rave reviews of the pump, I didn't initially suspect it was her fault. I've spent countless hours changing the circuit, re-wiring, checking and re-checking the connections. This was very frustrating and annoying. Eventually I bought a much cheaper Superior pump, hooked it up to the plumbing and plugged it into a GFI outlet in the basement. Works like a champ! The problem was obviously with the Zรถller pump (short circuit to ground, water in the motor?). Unfortunately, I spent so much time getting DAM* to work that the return date was long past. I have heard that Zoeller does not cover the warranty if the product is sold through Revain. Be sure to buy a pump, but test it right away with whatever GFI circuit you intend to use.
