Review on ๐Ÿ”ง Precision Alignment Indicator for Calibrating Machinery Presses by Mark Kolipano

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Enough to work with wood.

Anyone who has taken woodworking seriously long enough will tell you that at some point you have to stop chasing perfection. I've read a few reviews that say the dial gauge is inaccurate and there are too many variables to make it inconsistent. Well, if you're trying to make a Space-X part, yeah, don't buy that. But if you're trying to set up your table saw, this is perfect. It took me about 10 minutes to open the box and toss the instructions in the bin before setting the corner slot to 0.0005 and stopping at +0.002 from the blade at the other end. No problem and I get square cuts. The review mentions the slot the slant bar must have to install the crossbar. It allows for too much play if you tighten the screw well enough it keeps it stable and even if the crossbar is at a microscopic angle because it's fixed and doesn't move you get a good reading. It should be noted that he did not take advantage of the opportunity to adjust the cornice exactly to my track. I simply applied pressure down and to one side of the guide at an angle and got a stable reading. I'll give it a 5. It worked great for setting up my table saw and I'm very excited to try it on a jointer.
