
As others have said, this is difficult to fix, but possible. The plastic ring is easy to remove, which is actually a good thing because it makes it easy to retrofit this sensor. The fact is that the sensor is covered with foam inside, which does not insulate heat well. So when you remove the ring you will see a foam strip that should be there to press the sensor against the metal wall of the fitting. Peel and cut a piece of foam covering the inside of the sensor and tape it over the foam on the outside just above. Clean the inside of the sensor with alcohol and apply a drop of thermal grease to the inside. Then reset everything. Just make sure you place the styrofoam (that you cut out) correctly so the sensor is pressed well against the metal wall. Enjoy
