Review on πŸ“š Fujitsu ScanSnap SV600: Efficient Overhead Book and Document Scanner for Streamlined Scanning by Robert Hines

The software is terrible.

The software is terrible. There is no way to backup and restore things. If you scan a 200-page book, create a PDF, and see a problem, you don't get a chance to go back to the images and fix it. you are gone You have to scan the book from scratch. And the software will do strange things. You must manually define the boundaries of each pair of pages with separation between the two pages. Well, the last time I did this, the program decided to make each pair of pages a single page in the PDF instead of making each page a separate page as is normally done. There was no setting for it, the software just decided it would be fun to fool me again. The software doesn't convert text that's curved due to page curl well, it doesn't understand that almost all text has straight, even lines, and that's how it should look when it's done. You can also scan items as single sheets or as pairs of pages, but not both. So it's not like there is one page for the cover, several pairs of pages, and one page for the final cover. If I wanted people to hate my product, I would offer software like this. Well I've used it a little more and what's my current impression? Sorry I can't give that one star. I spent just a few hours meticulously adjusting the margins around the pages of a book, hit the button to create a PDF, and everything was thrown away. All that work is lost. The software couldn't be that bad for incompetence. Some true sociopath must have written this to make people's lives miserable.
