Review on 🟨 Bilstein 24-187121 Rear Shock for Nissan Xterra 4WD - Enhanced Performance in Vibrant Yellow by Bill Tripi

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Plug and play rear shock absorbers.

2011 Xterra Pro4x. So far, so good. I replaced my old Bilsteins that were leaking with these. I would say they lasted about 50,000 miles before I needed a replacement. Installation was easy enough with the right tools. I did it alone but 2 people would definitely make it easier. Here's how I did it: I did NOT jack up the car (would be easier, but not essential). I dropped the spare tire. The top bracket has a nut on each (17mm DEEP socket) and then a freely rotating nut and bolt on the bottom of each (I used a regular 3/4 socket and crescent wrench). I sprayed each nut/bolt combination with PB BLASTER 5 minutes beforehand and let it sit. I then used a BREAKER to loosen both the top nuts and bottom nuts/bolts, but only where they moved. Then I switched to my normal ratchet. In the lower set, you must use a crescent wrench or other ratchet to hold one side of the nut/bolt assembly. Those on you should compress the damper while under the car to line up the holes. Again I did it myself but another person would make it easier for me. So first put the shock on the top bolt, this requires constant rocking back and forth, and then compress the shock to line it up with the bottom bracket, then put the loose bolt in place. Get dressed and you're done. The solo lasted about 2.5 hours. Now that I know what I'm doing, it could take about an hour.
