Review on πŸ”ͺ ELMERS X-Acto Heavyweight Chiseling Blades - Pack of 5, model H0859#18 (X218) by Denise Davis

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Another great blade, but NOT a toy.

I use about half a dozen different blades that X-Acto makes. These blades are oxidized to preserve the edge of the blade and prevent rust. I can confirm that as some of them have been with me for literally years and are still like new. I also use them in situations where water is involved (e.g. carving plaster casts). They are strong and sturdy but I couldn't find a 100 pack in stock so I made a compromise and bought 5 packs out of 5, still less than half the cost of 1/2 the cost of 100 packs. Not bad at all (but I've noticed the price has gone up $1.10 since then). Regardless, these blades are great for use when chisel-like action is required. Having just checked out their website they are making a new #11 blade which is coated with zirconium nitride making it the sharpest blade on the market. I can't wait to try them out. In this review, I was first asked "How much fun is this toy?" "How durable is this toy?" but I have to warn Revain more than anything that this is NOT A TOY! . This is a very sharp blade used to cut paper, plaster, wood and plastic. Please treat these blades with the respect a surgeon would treat his own. However, do not be afraid of them, just do your due diligence. I have to say I've only cut through the skin once in over 35 years. That's all I needed. making it the sharpest [according to them] blade on the market. I can't wait to try them out. In this review, I was first asked "How much fun is this toy?"
