I'm obsessed with my cargo cage. YES, I took the weather protection precautions myself after reading the rust reports. But if you don't want to spend a few hundred dollars, this is what you get. Installation was easy. It looks great on my 2016 Jeep Patriot and the size is very comfortable. I packed over 60 pounds of camping gear for a trip across California and it worked great! I wore them for about 3 months and only noticed a few wind noises on the freeway. However, the Jeep Patriot naturally makes a lot of wind noise, so this can help deaden it. I check it every few weeks and it still hasn't come loose since the original install. Be sure to follow the instructions carefully! There are two different types of screws in one pack. 4 of them are for the front panel and the remaining 8 for the case. Weather modifications: black silicone between all connectors and all screw holes. It took some time and finesse to get it clean, but it was worth it.
