I've had many types of hard drives. Samsung, Crucial, WD, Maxtor, etc. In any case, it's decent enough HD. Unfortunately, WD has reduced the cost of tool support for this. Many people will probably clone their hard drive like I did. I only have 1 M2 drive bay so I left my existing drive in the PC and used the enclosure to clone the hard drive. At least that's what I've done on many other types of HD in the past. However, if you're using a WD tool (Acronis), you'll need to have WD create your original drive as well, otherwise the app won't even open. Secondly, you will be asked to download the full version of Acronis if your original drive is not WD, which by the way costs $60. Well, that's pretty pathetic. Both Crucial and Samsung have utilities that are good for cloning all types of drives. I ended up using a free tool called Macrium Reflect since WD decided not to properly care about customer support. He did his job well. After I cloned it, there were no problems at all. After that I had to manually resize the partition, but that's not a big deal since it's a standard procedure. Maybe that's why WD drives are a few bucks cheaper than the competition because their support tools aren't great. You shouldn't have any problems if you create a new format or something like that. But if you are planning to clone your drive, keep this in mind.
