I have made it a habit to choose gifts from Melissa and Doug's beautiful collection. I have always been satisfied and usually shop with confidence that the gift will arrive in perfect condition and will stand on its own. I was really surprised and disappointed when my granddaughter opened her fourth birthday present this week. The beautiful little jewelry box has been flattened on all four corners. The paint has peeled off. The corners are really chipped. Inside the box is a piece of foam to store the rings. There was white sediment on the surface, but inside it just dangled loosely. The rest of the box was fine. But those flaws made it look more like a flea market wedding than a brand new gift. I hope Melissa and Doug step up their quality control so grandmothers don't explain to little princesses that their gift is really new and broken for some unknown reason. I told her that maybe a unicorn was sitting on it.
