When you drink through a straw, do you want to hold the straw in your hands? If your answer is no, then this is not a straw for you. The straws are so thick that it is difficult to take a sip from the straw without holding it in your hand. Because of the force required to hold the straw in your mouth, your suction power will decrease in the process. I suspect it has to do with the combination of thickness and weight of the straw. If you don't mind holding a straw while drinking, buy these straws because they're great at it! The only problem with hand-holding the straw is that you'll likely have to use both hands to drink: one hand holding the cup and the other holding the straw. I don't know about you, but personally I prefer to hold a cup and drink from a straw without touching it. I bought these to have reusable straws for when my girlfriend and I have smoothies, which we do daily. I'll keep using these for now but might buy another set but I'm worried most straws of this thickness and weight will have the same issue. The search continues!
