Review on ๐Ÿ”ง Enhanced Performance Belltech 6401 Shackle Kit by Oscar Kaufman

Beltech shackles - looks ok so far, but assembly is not as easy as the instructions say

I bought these shackles because I wanted to downsize the factory rake originally fitted to my 2012 Silverado. The struts alone reduce the pitch so the difference between the top of the rear fender opening and the top of the front fender opening is 1/2 inch. The kit includes washers for the U-bolts so the spring blocks can be removed and the truck leveled. You can fit a leveling kit to raise the front of the car to reduce the factory pitch, but then you'll have a higher center of gravity and a little more body roll when cornering the road. In addition to a higher center of gravity, you need to adjust camber when you raise the front of your truck. It should also be noted that the instructions only show installation on a vehicle frame with no platform installed. I installed these clevises and found that if your truck has a hitch, you'll need to disengage and lower the hitch to pull the lower fork rods out. You may need to remove or lower the spare tire to access the hitch pins. You'll need to loosen all eight bolts holding the body to the frame, then lift the body a few inches to get the top bolts out. Raise the bed just enough to remove the top bolts, if you raise it too far there is a chance the front of the bed will contact the cab and cause damage there. The total installation time took about three hours. To install these restraints yourself, the Silverado/Sierra forum has a nice article with pictures.
