Review on LudoPam Upgrade Replacement Conversion Flashlights by Lori Williams

When I first received these conversion kits I was unable to fit the bulb into the Maglite because the diameter of the new LED bulb was too large to fit through the Maglite retaining ring. This problem has been noted by other reviewers and I have not seen a solution to it. Eventually I found out that there are two different sizes of locking rings for Maglites. Both retaining rings have the same threads so they will fit any 2, 3 or 4 element Maglite lamp, but the inside diameter of the hole the lamp goes through is different. These different locking rings can be found in 2, 3 and 4 piece Maglite magnets. LudoPam LED lamps will only fit through a Maglite retaining ring with a full ID lamp hole and will not fit through Maglite retaining rings with a narrower inner lamp hole. I have not been able to determine which Maglite lamps use larger and smaller diameter retaining rings. It seems that the lamp supplier should make this clearer when they advertise that their lamps will work in all Maglites. I ended up using a dremel to drill out the inside diameter of the retaining ring on the end of the bulb to allow the new LED bulb to fit properly. Once installed, they work great! Much brighter than the old Maglite bulbs.
