I got one of these to help me see hard to reach places where I might not be able to lift my head. Well the design of this thing places the actual hole and mirror almost in the middle of the tube. The length of this tube from the end to the opening is longer than the side of my head from the ear to the eye. So I can put my head on something and see it while being in the same room. , this tool will not even fit in the space! For example, I was trying to install my entertainment center and routed the cables through the frame of my TV cabinet (that's how it's designed to hide the cables). I tried using this tool and when I inserted the tool into the TV stand cavity the end of the tube was aligned with the back of the TV stand frame while the hole for the periscope tube was still on the OUTSIDE of the TV stand - like this I looked at everything on carpet! With the periscope I viewed the cabinet from the outside and NOT the inside because the periscope is too long (between its end and the mirror hole). I've tried using this periscope on two other occasions for similar tasks (like peeking behind a fridge) and in each case the end of the periscope is too long and the mirror hole too far from the end to see in space. If they shorten the distance between the switch and the LED bulb, they can move the mirror to the end of the tube and allow it to be no more than 1 inch of clearance. As it is, you'll need about 3 inches of space for the periscope to penetrate deep enough into anything to see through. You need to redesign it with a hole and a mirror near one END of the pipe. If you place a mirror in the center of the tube, you can only use it to look into a space deep enough for your head. So what's the point? If my head fits, why use a periscope? EDIT: Perhaps a BES wall sight, an illuminated periscope, would have been a more effective tool. It's also cheaper than this tool (at the time of editing). I haven't had a chance to try the BES scope yet. If anyone does this, please review or add a comment on their performance. Thanks very much!
