Inner mattress and outer railing are two separate pieces of thick vinyl. The inflated mattress must be placed in the inflated railing block (safety bumper). We also bought a waterproof crib pad and sheet to cover the mattress and all four pieces fit together easily and securely. Inflation with the included electric pump is quick, as is deflation by pulling out the large black plugs and attaching them to two pieces of vinyl. The mattress and railings are well designed and our grandchildren will be comfortable, but the storage bag packaging is flimsy. After our initial inflation and deflation of the two vinyl blocks, we placed them in a storage bag, but without pushing the pieces into the bag, the drawstring at the top of the bag broke.
