I ordered what the product description said was a 'small plug' and received a plug that I couldn't use. + years of do-it-yourself work, a "pin” stuck out on the connector. And the "mother" connector had an internal connection into which the "pin" was inserted. Even plumbing has plugs and sockets. all marked as "male" and "female". The males are the ones that have a thread or something sticking out, and the females are the ones that stick out like a nut on a bolt enter. Walnut is feminine. The easiest way I can describe is to connect to your mobile phone charger. The end that plugs into an outlet in the wall is called the power plug, and the socket is called the jack. (man) I understand that gender is questionable in our society these days, but I didn't think that was the case with inanimate objects. So, like I said, please correct me if I'm wrong. Thank you!
