Poor antenna. Have experimented with it. zero win. Indeed. negative gain. It's tuned to the wrong frequencies. The rubber duck that came with the radio gave the best reading, hitting every repeater in the area. This antenna hit a repeater nearby. That's it!3

Bad antenna. 2m SWR is acceptable, but the center frequency for 70cm is around 480MHz, well outside the US bandwidth plan. At US frequencies of 70 cm, the SWR is unacceptable and unusable. In addition, the supplied magnet is also unusable. Too small even for a small antenna.

I have a set of 1mm 1/2 inch thick neodymium disc magnets. I removed the plastic on the bottom and replaced the "weaker fridge" magnets and these are holding up great now. Another antenna had the same problem and I used some magnets and it doesn't come off unless I pull hard.

The seller will provide a double 3M foam adhesive pad to fix the antenna securely on the car roof. 70-80 km/h no problem. I'm waiting for Boefeng to do some mobile satellite work. Many coaxial antenna cables, small diameter and connectors. I use clips on the dash to keep the cable out of the way. No problem.

I put it on the roof of a car and drove less than 30 miles before the antenna fell off the roof. The magnet is very bad and doesn't hold. I attached a real neodnroom magnet to it and sealed it with tape and it hasn't come loose since. In terms of ease of use, this is a great little antenna for the money, but you'll spend more money on a better antenna next time.

This antenna doesn't really resonate on the ham radio bands. For something advertised as a ham radio antenna I was hoping that the lowest return loss would be on the ham bands. See attached photos for details of the two units I purchased. This was tested in the middle of the roof of my car, there were no obstacles nearby. I wasn't expecting much for $10 but decided to give it a try. All in all not a bad antenna. The SMA connector was the biggest advantage as it plugged directly into my Radioddity GM-30 GMRS laptop without an adapter. The biggest drawback, as mentioned in other reviews, is the poor quality of the magnet. It won't stay in place at highway speeds and/or high winds.
