Review on ๐Ÿ•๏ธ Snugpak Stratosphere Shelter - 5000mm Waterproof Outer, Ideal for Solo Use by Dave Russell

Best in class for outdoor recreation

This is one hell of a tent cover. It's well designed, roomy enough and pretty damn light. Installation takes about a minute without pegs. The two bars are well designed and snap right into place. The result is about 2 feet of internal height. There are ventilation holes in the head area, which come out both at the front and at the back. The ventilation hole at the head of the tent has a mosquito pad attached to pegs to avoid getting wet when it rains. Additionally, it can be rolled up to allow a night view through the bug net. The downward ventilation is nice, but the cover can be pulled up in the event of a downpour. There is a small mesh pocket on the roof of the tent, which can be used to put a small flashlight, phone, etc. Shutting up in the rain, with a flashlight and a book, one person is ready to go. The inflatable sleeping mat from My Alps fits in easily. The room is occupied with my blanket, but I'm warm. The tent increases the time rating of your sleep system. Now for the flash. There is a zipper on the right side, which is closed with overlapping Velcro strips. For those wondering how the heck to slip into a regular tent bag, this zipper makes it so much easier. It may not be as hard as it should be, but I haven't found any downside to it. I'm 5'8", 200', 44" chest and like to sleep on my side. I can do it at this shelter. Sure, my duvet touches the tent when I sleep on the side, but I can move around a bit. This shelter is not a body bag. The case is very light. Lightweight as in, it's a *real* lightweight shelter. It is easy to fold thanks to good technology. But I find it works just as well if I pull out and throw in the poles (they have a little carry case, like the stakes for shelter), roll up my mattress and blanket and bag, put on a bungee. around isn't that big of a result and throw it on my bike like old sleeping bags. In summary, this is a good investment. I don't see any major improvements in the much more expensive models. Of course, my use is rather lenient. Still, it's a darn good value hideaway, light and well designed and more than adequate for the right campsite.
