For some reason this steamer has some negative reviews which I think misrepresent its overall cleaning potential. I have no idea if some users are misusing this or just not removing stains/dirt long enough. I use it as an interior cleaning method in car panels and it's more than effective - it's really impressive for the price. I also have an $800 vaper that I'm now kicking myself for buying - I could have 4 of these instead. I will continue and describe how I use it and how it works in each area. water only (prevents the accumulation of minerals in the boiler, which can ultimately reduce the life of the machine). Then I plug it in and let it sit for 10-15 minutes while I do another task. I also use this time to pretreat carpets, leather and other materials with a suitable interior cleaner. After the waiting time has expired, the machine is pressurized to approx. 4 bar (60 psi). Yes, this machine drops to around 30psi when you actually vape, but so does my $800 machine. All vapers lose some pressure when the trigger is pulled. However, I find that 30psi is more than enough in most cases, especially for leather, vents, and switches. This thing gets HOT too. Yes, it has a long hose and the vapor cools down a bit before it reaches the nozzle, but it's HOT ENOUGH to remove dirt and stains. I can even easily clean engines and wheels with this thing when needed due to the balance of heat and moisture it provides. I wrap the triangular head with a terry or microfiber towel to clean the carpet, upholstery and leather to ensure the dirt is picked up and not just heated and rubbed around the material. It removes even the most stubborn and oldest stains from carpets and leather. It will kill the smoke smell when used properly and carefully on headliners. I was skeptical that a $200 machine could perform well enough to do rigorous detail work and satisfy my OCD case, but I am happy to report that there are no performance issues with this model. Don't get too carried away with reviews, it will most likely do any job other than industrial cleaning, and it will do it very well. This is one of the best tool investments I've made in a while.
