Review on Next-Level Prototyping with Electronics Salon Prototype Terminal Arduino MEGA 2560 by Jason Mitts

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Convenience that's worth the cost

This is a very well made board that provides a screw terminal interface for all pins on the Arduino Mega2560 microcontroller board. All pin designations are screen printed on the circuit board. The only downside is that alone it costs 25% more than the Arduino board itself, but for me the convenience of the screw terminal connections made it worth the cost. Pin headers are included to connect this board to the Mega2560's pin headers, but I replaced the normal pin headers (easier to plug in and out) as I didn't plan on stacking another shield on this board. This board provides a reset push button switch, which is a good idea as the Mega2560's reset button is not available when this board is installed. A few caveats: this board takes a long time to build (172 solder points to be precise) and vertical pin orientation is critical to being able to connect it to the Mega2560, so be prepared. You will also need to apply electrical tape to the top of the Mega2560's USB connector to prevent shorts to the pads on the underside of this board.

Pros
  • FR-4 fiberglass printed circuit board, two layers of copper, size 120mm x 78mm.
Cons
  • New Competitors Arrive
