Having already had the Griffin RoadTrip to use with my iPod Classic I decided to upgrade to the RoadTrip Handsfree to use with my iPhone 4S. The device itself is very nice and well built and holds my phone in place very securely without the wobbling or loosening that others have complained about. It even works with my phone when it's in a case, a huge bonus. There's nothing worse than unpacking your phone or iPod every time you want to use it with an accessory. The device is equipped with the SmartScan feature that helps you find a strong and clear FM channel to use with the device. This is a useful feature, especially in areas where finding the right station can be difficult. The corresponding iOS app does this even better by remembering good stations by location, so no matter where you are, you have a catalog of good stations to use and switch between. seems really buggy. I was able to find a mostly clean VHF channel to use with the unit, but driving in close proximity to other cars, passing metal railings on bridges, or metal siding on buildings, I found that a lot of static electricity and distortion was introduced became the sound. Transmission. When driving on the open road and keeping a reasonable distance from other vehicles, the static noise disappeared. It's not as good as connecting to your car stereo's AUX or USB port, but if you don't have that option it's a really good option. Product. Just be prepared to deal with FM transmission attributes.
