Review on New Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Standard Zoom Lens for Canon DSLR Cameras (White Box) by Abhey Vohra ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I like the product very much, fully consistent with my expectations.

I originally bought it as a universal spare lens for holidays. Now it is often used as a universal one for reporting (for work), when you need a very quick change in focal lengths and there is no time to re-stitch, and you are too lazy to carry 2 cameras. At a short focus it “soaps”, but tolerably, at a long focus it often shoots better than 70-200 / 2,8 USM (already bought the 2nd one, but it “soaps” and misses more often - perhaps an unsuccessful sample). Of course, you should not expect a super high-quality picture from him (especially with such a spread of focal lengths and price), but for quick "sketches" it will do. The first lens was repaired once under warranty (some kind of screw inside was unscrewed), the second one has been working without complaints for 4 years already, even though it once fell on asphalt from about 1m. So the quality is right for the price. Suitable for shooting in the home archive, especially for beginners as a universal lens.

Pros
  • light, inexpensive, versatile and strong enough
Cons
  • can "soap" on some range of focus

For its cost will probably come down. Although the Sigma 18-200 will give a better picture.
