These are smaller than Q-Tips, so they can get into more spots, and they don't come apart like the cotton tips of Q-Tips either. I got these swaps for cleaning corrosion off pc board traces and for cleaning off flux after soldering. I use DeoxIT for the former and isopropyl alcohol for the latter. These swaps work really well. This is my first experience with spear-shaped swabs, and I'm a convert, though I would not call them general purpose. From the stiff (but not rigid) stem to the fabric encapsulated tip, these swabs excel at cleaning in small, difficult-to-reach places. I use them mostly for electronic/PCB cleaning. The thermal bonding of fabric to stem does interfere a bit when trying to use the side of the swab to scrub and contrary to the recommendation in the Product Description, I wouldn't want that bonding

I honestly got these to use for painting smaller models where I did not want to see brush strokes, and for some detail work where brush bristles would spill over to other areas I did not want painted. The heads of these swabs are very small and the polyester microfiber tips don't shed like cotton tipped swabs. While the tips are small, they do hold a decent amount of solvent or oil for their size. Grabbed these to clean my laser head, as well as for other detail cleaning needed around my craft room. They work great for my intended purpose, but also great for things like my airbrush, my printers, my 3d printer, and just basic cleaning of tight spaces where I don't want cotton fuzz left behind from normal cotton buds. When I first saw this, I thought this my be good to use to put glue on my eyelashes so that's what I actually use it for. I like it because the tip is solid and doesn't shed. I did use a few to clean my laptop too and it was very effective. It can really get in small places.

Little plastic toothpicks covered in a thin fabric that seems quite lint free. Easy to use to clean small areas like a laser head or the printer head etc. The fabric comes off a bit too easily though so have to be careful that doesn't get left behind.

I don't use these for cleaning small details. I use these for putting detail with soft chalk into my artwork. They work very well and I'm happy to have found them.

I've used these swabs for 2 very different purposes - cleaning firearms and cleaning electronic boards and connectors. These swabs have been excellent in both applications. These are about the same length as a standard Q-Tip, but are so much more sturdy, both in the plastic shaft as well as the cleaning tip. The micro-fiber tip is slightly flexible to allow you to get into tight places, but rigid enough to really get some good cleaning done, all without shedding lint. These are a great purchase and a must have when cleaning anything electronic.

I use these for cleaning and repairing old electronic equipment. Compared to normal Q tips, these are so much better since the shape is not intended to go into an ear. I'm sure they're fine unless you use them to clean sensitive skin, like eyelids, like I do. Their edges are sharp and hurt your skin. I paid more for 200 of these than I did for over 600 lip brushes, that are nice and soft around the eye. I went back to the lip brushes.
