Review on OXO BREW Conical Burr Coffee Grinder: Precision Grinding with Built-in Scale by Kelly Jones

Revainrating 4 out of 5

History of two OXO grinders (note production update)

Phase I: We bought it in 2016 and enjoyed it for the entire warranty period except for a month when it broke and stopped working. This first machine had to be held by hand while crushing, otherwise the machine would wobble and the bean pieces would fall into the seat seams of the cone grinder, the machine would stop and need cleaning. We cleaned them up with a pastry brush from time to time until we got the hang of it. But we have the red ring of death. Phase II: We received a new machine under warranty after trying the replacement part. for her. Although it's technically the same machine, it grinds at a faster speed so the grinder doesn't "snap, catch, shake wildly" at the beans. With this replacement, the parts do not fit into the seams of the grinder. We've had a replacement for about sixteen months now and have never had a problem. If I hear a significantly higher speed, which indicates that the beans are not getting into the cone grinder, I give the machine a little shake while grinding, then they jam and the grinding process can be completed. I didn't even have to clean the inside of this new machine and it always worked as intended. It's great to have perfectly ground beans at just the right weight to consistently brew great coffee. So I would say it's worth it. Buy it, try it, and if you have any problems grinding beans within the first 30 days, be sure to return it. But if not, you probably have the reengineered version, and I think you'll probably have a good experience with it.
