Okay, first off I was very much a fan of the company even before upgrading to the G900 from the G840S. When I bought the old one and had an issue, I reported it to customer service and had a new preplacement from an ebay purchase in less than a week, and yes they paid to ship. I can understand that products can fail, but if you are willing to support it makes a huge difference in customer service and how I see its support and confidence in its product. Now, I have had this item installed professionally for about $80. Take the time to do this and have it done right.Pros and ConsPros:- Settings screen… night and day above the one they have for G840s. Easier to see use and Navigate. Controls and Icons are larger and cleaner.- Camera, Front… Major upgrade. Can make out plates and zoom in for details as required. They even now have their own Camera Software for desktop playback and stills.- Brightness… Still adjustable, but even easier to make darker and adjust up and down as needed, even while in use.- Speed GPS… Starts up as soon as I start moving, vice in the older model where it might take a few minutes after moving.- Camera, Rear… No longer plastic, all hard metal mounting. Would trust it outside mounted, but I mounted it inside the rear window same as the one I had for G840S.Cons:- Don’t use this with the car plug-in adapter for power. Couldn’t stay on, the screen flickered, and GPS was hit and miss. I bought the bundle with the wired power but had to wait 2 weeks for it to be installed as I said above. When using the cigarette lighter power supply in the box, never worked properly. Installed power, kit… no issues at all. Worth the money and time to hard wire it.- GPS Speed control is off by at least 0.8 to as much as 1.9 MPH when driving. Now I thought it might have been an issue with KPM to MPH conversion in the software, so I put it to KPM and checked math manually. The same difference in speed versus Car reported and WAZE as well to make sure I wasn’t just trusting the car. This is most likely a software fix which I hope comes soon.- The way it saves files now doesn’t allow for the old or new Desktop viewer to show both front and rear at the same time. A minor point I suppose but it came in handy a few times with the old model. Now, even with the cons, I can say I love this thing. Always on the dash came front and rear, taking the place of the rearview mirror with a much wider view. Side mirrors are no longer used as they were due to more being seen. Additionally, when driving with the sun behind me, or at night when people are using high beams behind me, I no longer care. I see lights and bot vice the blindness that would come from a mirror, keeping me safer and seeing more on the road. Yes, I would and shall buy again when this one had meet its lifespan.
