I was surprised at their quality considering they only cost around $4 each. The seal appears to be durable as it will withstand many washes and uses. The rim around the jar helps maintain the seal and provides support for holding and moving the jar. The glass is thick so I hope they are freezer and oven safe and will try those features at some point. The lids are really nice and the plastic is thick and strong all around. They also came wrapped in plastic to prevent scratches during packaging/shipping. The lids can be stacked on top of each other, as can the glass shelves. When stored with the lid on and stacked, the lid provides a good non-slip surface for the jar, preventing it from moving and slipping off easily. The lock hinges are easy to open and close for those with arthritic hands, and the seal works! When I first filled one of them with water to test for leaks, it started leaking, but that was because the seal wasn't completely airtight. I just pressed that corner to form a seal and it was sealed. So if you plan to travel, be sure to press down slightly on the edges of the lid to form a proper seal. I would buy them again in other sizes! This size is perfect for a one-time meal for lunch.
