I have two computers with Thunderbolt 3 ports, none of them recognized this drive. Apparently you need to install software for your Thunderbolt 3 port to work. I was surprised. I figured you could just plug this in and get it working. It's not like this. This drive only works with the Thunderbolt port. Does not work with USB connection. This means that the Thunderbolt port matters. The problem is that the Thunderbolt port for your laptop needs software to work. Finding the right software is not easy. So if you need to share files between two computers, both need a Thunderbolt port and both need the right software installed for them to work. I'm pretty good at software, but the time it took to find the right software wasn't worth it for me. I sent the disk back. I'm sure you'll be really happy once you've installed the right software to make your Thunderbolt port recognize your new drive. This drive promises unbelievably high speeds.
