I actually prefer the Vibrams Five Fingers (after finally finding the right size). But I use them in the gym because they protect my toes better, but they are not afraid of shoes. The only problem was that the arch seemed too tall and the width too narrow, but it got better. Maybe that was because it needed to be broken up a bit. As with all minimalist shoes, there are fewer mistakes when choosing the right size. For regular shoes, you can alleviate some sizing issues by tightening them or changing the thickness of the toe box. But that doesn't work with this type as it's supposed to be a leg cover with no main attachment to the leg. I don't wear socks with it, which makes packing easier but probably less durable.
