I don’t know if it’s worth pointing out a drawback, especially since lately manufacturers have been transferring all their relatively inexpensive lines to this technology, but before buying, you should know what you are buying. SMR technology is not suitable for writing small pieces of data to different places. Writing a small piece of data actually overwrites a piece of several megabytes. Thanks to the dedicated area without SMR, this is imperceptible in normal operation, the disk controller writes to this area and then transfers it in its free time, but a large load with random recording overflows this area and the speed drops several times, or even tens of times. An example of such a load would be downloading via bittorrent. After a short period of work, the speed will drop to ~ 5 megabytes / s, while any other disk access, even reading, will freeze for seconds.
