Review on Yokohama Ice Guard IG50 215/50 R17 99Q winter by Jnis Labucis ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Overall good, but I expected more, there are disadvantages.

I did not notice before Velcro such bad handling in warm weather. Before that, I had some little-known Chinese Velcro on which I drove both in winter and summer for the last 3 years and there were no complaints about it at all, along a toll road to St. Petersburg, Crimea in the heat with almost a regular speed of 160-180 km / h and everything was fine with handling and was in corners and lane changes and even in ruts. Why is there, in winter, 150-160 km / h, I also traveled long distances along the highway, and there were hard snowfalls and slush and dry sections and everything was ok with handling. I didn’t drive far right there, though right after buying the rubber, that is, right on the fresh one and it was naturally dumb, even a small gauge makes the car dangle hard along the lane and sometimes involuntarily jump out of it and this is already 80 km / h in the city, and driving more than 100 km / h on this rubber is stupidly dangerous on the highway, of course, I couldn’t crawl like that and still drove 130-140, but at such a speed along the highway on this rubber, driving a car is quite exhausting, constantly on the lookout.

Pros
  • It doesn’t make noise, it rides confidently in the snow, almost like on clean asphalt (although I compare it with almost bald old tires, so the comparison is in contrast)
Cons
  • It’s terrifying how scary the car is driven in warm weather on clean asphalt, the car falls into a rut with a terrible hesitation and you’ll drive out of the rut. According to the sensations, I would attribute this to the excessive softness of the rubber.
