Review on Black Audio-Technica ATH-M50X Professional Grade Studio Monitor Headphones with Detachable Cable - Critically Acclaimed by Kevin Mills

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Anyone who says they are for everyday use (e.g. gaming) is lying.

Okay, call me a fake audiophile or yell at me for not appreciating the intricacies of music or audio production in the comments, I don't care. Bottom line, these amazingly comfortable, sturdy-looking headphones sounded downright awful compared to my *literally broke* Logitech G430s that I was initially trying to replace. Here's what happened: - Put on your headphones. Cozy! You can't hear the neighbor's baby crying either. Not bad given the lack of active noise cancellation. headphones plugged in. Confirmed they are connected. Big! I love thick, meaty cord! I bet my cat can't chew this. music turned on. Oh, the instrumental sounds are detailed! It has depth! I've even heard it's a flat jerky MP3! -- Wait, why haven't the vocals come out yet. - Hasn't the song come out yet? I hear intermittent noises in the background --- what is that? Singing? -- Proceed to download the Lossless CD of "Waloyo Yamoni" by Christopher Tin from The Drop That Contained The Sea. -- WHAT HAPPENED TO THE VOICE? MY SOUND CARD IS SUDDENLY DOING WHAT? - Last try. Tune in to the Overwatch League live stream. Clips are not audible due to background noise. The sounds of bullets and games are so tinny it hurts. This is the worst sound I've ever heard and I used to use the "phone in a bucket" method as an impromptu amp. Give up, put your headphones back in the box, plug your broken Logitech back in. I am back. this. An illegible center does not make a good impression. The fast ARAM in League of Legends just sounded tinny and awful in every way (although the in-game voice was completely incoherent), so it's not just the audio from bad sources. I agree on a few points - they show the lower quality of certain mixes and recorders so you can hear whether or not the compression, clipping or mixing killed the instrumental track is REALLY good - but the mids do. Oh my god, average. If this is "real sound" then "real sound" is trying to hear someone who has had a tracheostomy attempting to perform ASMR over the roof of a Concorde aircraft during takeoff.
