My hard drive on my Late 2013 27" Retina iMac, my work computer, mind you, that's why I got it desperately wanted to have it repaired. As we are still dealing with COVID, Apple facilities are taking very limited appointments so I had to do this myself. I watched tutorials on YouTube and the task of replacing an old hard drive with a new improved SSD was exciting. The description of Sabrent 2.5" SSD & SATA Hard Drive to Desktop 3.5" SATA Bay Converter Mounting Kit states that it is suitable for most computers. The size was great for my iMac, but here's the catch: the screws that come with the Sabrent aren't long enough to attach the Sabrent mount to your old Apple mount. You will need 4 #6-32 x 1/2 machine screws to install the new Sabrent Mount Kit into your old iMac's mounts. The screws that came with the Sabrent are too short. I've tried all means to fix this, but buying longer screws was the answer. The Apple mount has rubber washers that, when removed, give the screws that come with the Sabrent the perfect length. However, you will find that these rubber washers must remain in place for your Apple mounts to reach the desired mating holes. This is the ideal distance so that the rubber washers cannot be removed. Simply purchase the additional screws above and installation is quick and easy.
