You get what you pay for

I needed an insulated metal water bottle because I was attending combat training in the Mojave Desert (29 Palms, CA). I have used a hydroflask in the past and have been impressed by its ability to keep the water cold despite daytime temperatures in excess of 105 degrees. Unfortunately I've dropped this hydroflask too many times and it seems to have lost its ability to keep liquids cold (or hot). I didn't want to spend $40 on another one, so I decided to give the Hydro Cell a try. It looked and felt like Hydroflask, so I thought I got a good deal. However, I immediately noticed that although it keeps my ice water cold, the ice will melt in a couple of hours, whereas if you put ice and water in a hydro flask at night, the ice will be there in the morning. I think the problem was the metal cap, which always felt cold to the touch even though the bottle itself never gets cold, leading me to believe the cold was dissipated through the cap. What really bothered me was the lid. . I didn't understand what the problem was or the reason, but there were often instances where I tried to unscrew the cover but it wouldn't come off no matter how much I twisted/twisted it. It was incredibly frustrating, especially when I was hot and thirsty and wanted to drink some ice water. In the end I bought a hydroflask. Lesson learned.
