Review on Dorman 924 532 Sun Visor Repair by Hunter Schneider

Does not work out of the box

Unfortunately, instead of five stars, it only deserves one star because the product does not work as advertised. First, the portion of the sun visor stem that goes into the mount narrows and does not fit deep enough into the mount for the compression nut to compress the spring. The spring is extremely stiff, and with the stem below the spring tip, using a vise or clamp along with a socket wrench to tighten the compression nut just won't work. However, I found a solution that had to be done during production. First drill a hole for the rod in the back using a 19/64 drill bit. This allows the tapered visor stem to enter the mount far enough for the spring to be seated and the compression nut to be centered on the spring/stem. Then, using a 3/8" and 1/4" deep socket wrench and a jackhammer, hit the head hard enough to force the compression nut onto the stem and slightly compress the spring. Do not hit too hard or the sun visor shaft will be too tight. The instructions are pretty lame. First they say to follow the maintenance instructions. The repair manual doesn't list them as there is no "repair" procedure, just replace the entire sun visor assembly. And the assembly instructions state that everything must be assembled in the order shown in the picture, with no suggestion of any technique to install the compression nut. alone cheap, especially if it needs to be modified due to poor manufacturing. Otherwise it would be a five-start point. Much better than standard plastic.
