Oh boy! Well, let's start with something.

Oh my god! Let's start with the fact that you can't assemble this without a professional tool to compress the spring while trying to blindly slide the lock nut onto the shaft to secure it. That's why they give you 4 locking nuts, after you cripple them and you have to resort to some kind of tape to hold the last semi-functional nut together and bang it in with a 2lb hammer it works fine! I hope I never have to take it off again! But at least these are the right parts for the job!

Easy IF you use the correct installation method

I struggled with the first one but then I read one of the other reviewers' comments on the installation. I tried using a vise and tried to press the retaining clip against the sight bar. What works best is to put the actual metal rod from the visor in a vise. I left out the washer and just used the locking clip. Using a matching head, I simply hammered the retaining clip onto the sight bar. Works great! It lasted less than a minute as opposed to struggling against the clamp or vise trying to…

WORKS right out of the box

This thing is great. My factory unit broke and I figured I'd have to replace both until I found this. That is VERY clear. Just follow the instructions and don't breathe through your mouth and you'll be fine. I added a thin layer of lube and it works better than before. Don't listen to the whiners that it doesn't work or that the instructions don't make sense. I used a small head and put it in a vise to set the locking ring in place. It probably took me longer to open the box than to fix and…

Great mount! Need a 3/8 long head

I have a 2006 Jeep Wrangler TJ and the original plastic bracket broke. Ordered the whole visor with a new mount and found it was too wide even though it was supposed to fit '06. Not right. Disappointed, I bought a Dorman mount. Perfect! The metal is strong and fits like a glove. It's a little tricky to install the spring and lock washer, but here's the trick. .3/8 inch extension and hammer. First, compress the spring a bit by hitting it with a hammer so that it falls deeper into the bracket…

Does not work out of the box

Unfortunately, instead of five stars, it only deserves one star because the product does not work as advertised. First, the portion of the sun visor stem that goes into the mount narrows and does not fit deep enough into the mount for the compression nut to compress the spring. The spring is extremely stiff, and with the stem below the spring tip, using a vise or clamp along with a socket wrench to tighten the compression nut just won't work. However, I found a solution that had to be done…
