Decent light - good value

Bought to replace a broken 70w high pressure sodium lamp. Installs in the same location 23 feet off the ground. The immediate area under the light is much brighter than before. However, it doesn't go that far. The outer band of the lit area isn't as bright as the old sodium light, but it's good enough for my needs. A higher attachment point or a slight incline can also help. The light barrier is mounted on the side at the end opposite the mounting bracket and appears to have snapped into place. That wasn't a problem for me as the light was pointing north anyway. This can be a problem if your particular installation location is not north facing. If proper alignment is an issue, consider using a flashlight with an adjustable, top-mounted photocell. I like that the device is completely sealed. Every few years I had to remove the bug carcasses from the old lantern so it wouldn't break my grounding circuit when it rained. Good performance for the price. Time will tell reliability. If it's like most other LED lighting products in my experience, it fails in the first 100 hours or lasts forever. UPDATE: Had to downgrade to 2 stars. 9 months in operation. Still gives a bright light but I've noticed the lens filling with water. So much for waterproofing. Too much hassle to take it off, drain the water and put it back on to have it fill with water again. I'm pretty sure it will fail soon. If that happens I will buy another brand.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Unbelievable price
