Review on 💧 SEAFLO 42-Series Variable Flow Water Pressure Diaphragm Pump - 12V, 3.0GPM, 55PSI by Chad Sornsin

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Decent pump for the money

Replaced a 45psi, 5gpm pump with this pump. Added a holding tank to compensate for the 2 GPM reduction in throughput. The accumulator works like a mini pressure tank with a built in air chamber that compresses with the water pressure from the pump, giving you extra water flow before the pump hits the bottom and kicks in. Fewer pump cycles, less energy consumption, more volume at higher pressure. Well it works fine but I was spoiled by an old oversized pump that failed. Run in bucket with no attachments for 1 minute, moving 2 1/2 gallons of water. Not quite the 3 GPM they listed. 3' 3/4" inlet hose and 2' 3/4" outlet hose to 10' 1/2" ID reel hose. 18" feed to pump from inlet. The ablution washed the catfish slime from the hands and the boat. Lots of single use. Not as well built as the lower pressure, higher volume pump it replaced. The photo shows what was installed. Sorry I don't dive into the hold to install the image. It comes with 4 stainless steel screws that are not included with the pump. While you can get screws and clamps at Lowes, buy some waterproof electrical clamps in their pump aisle. They shrink with a heat gun or lighter and provide a watertight connection that will not corrode. I had to adjust the inlet and outlet hoses in the boat from 3/4" to 1/2". It was a pre-existing installation and only meant a trip to Lowes for stainless steel adapters and clamps. The fittings that come with the pump are 1/2 inch and work fine. It is absolutely not suitable for washing the deck. Once you release the higher pressure and get into the flow that the pump can deliver, you'll get a flow on par with what this 58 year old fart can do on his own. 4 stars for marginal flow, which is 1/2 5 gpm below rating. I'll probably buy a bigger pump and move it to a freshwater system on a boat to replace the 1 GPM, which is a lame excuse for a pump there. My advice is don't skimp and get a low rated 5 GPM pump. I think SeaFlow is a good product for the money and will most likely buy another one just with a higher 5 gpm rating.
