This stone is double sided (coarse and less rough) and much longer than I thought it would be: around 8" or 10" long. I've used it to sharpen all sorts of things: chisels, knives, ax heads, etc. With a bit of whet oil, you can give your blade a nice sharpness with this stone. I've noticed that a rougher, less sharp (serrated) blade can wear down the stone fairly quickly, leaving scratched and jagged spots on the stone. But that's probably my fault: hitting those areas with a file first before reaching the stone will fix this problem. This is a good stone from which I expect many benefits.
