One would think that Salewa would not make any major changes to a "Version 3" of a successful model, but rather cautiously. That's how it was with the Ultra Train 2 back then. Unfortunately, I have to say that the Ultra Train 3 doesn't have much to do with the Ultra Train 2 anymore. I had already noticed that the sole and lacing had changed, new versus old, but now unfortunately the much narrower forefoot is also noticeable. Salewa has also changed the fit and designed the shoe for narrower feet. That is annoying and should be in the actually not occur in the field of sports shoes. Names fall for it and then you wonder. With the classic lacing, the less dominant sole and the lower edge, you obviously want to appeal to a wider group of customers. It also fits that the category is no longer called trail running, but speed hiking. Too bad, the new shoe is certainly not bad.
