Men's Salewa Trekking Trail Running Shoes - Boosting Your Outdoor Performance Review

I use trail running shoes instead of traditional hiking shoes on my (thru) hikes. I have "duck feet" - wide forefoot, narrow heel. One would think that Salewa would not make any major changes to a "Version 3" of a successful model, but rather cautiously. That's how it was with the Ultra Train 2 back then. Unfortunately, I have to say that the Ultra Train 3 doesn't have much to do with the Ultra Train 2 anymore. I tried the shoe in three sizes. With all of them, the lacing with the extremely thin laces was the reason for the return. The foot never seemed to have enough support to go on a long hike. It's a shame because the shoe looks great.

Worst wet grip of any shoe I've ever had on my foot. Unless you are hiking or running in the desert or some other dry trail, avoid these running shoes. Wet rocks, damp logs, muddy trails, forget it, these shoes are just awful.

Comfortable trekking shoe. After 2 days they fit like a glove. Color is a matter of taste. The lacing works perfectly and holds, not like other brands.

Boo hiss. My absolute favorite hiking shoe has been reworked and needs to be returned. The previous Ultra-Trains fit like a glove, and I've worn them on high-speed hikes, off-road, and even backcountry backpacking. loved her. But the latter on v3 are noticeably different, they don't fit at all. Like more volume. I have to move on and look for other shoes.

This shoe is NOT waterproof. I have contacted MFG and they have confirmed that this is not the case. The customer review said they were ashamed of me. Really well fitting shoe but I need H2O proof.

These are the most comfortable hiking shoes I've ever had. They are lightweight, breathable, have decent arch support and great traction. I would say the grip is too good as I tend to trip over branches or rocks when dragging my feet. My other minor complaint is that the sole tends to come loose in the toe area where it is glued to the toe. This is my second pair to have done this. In short, while it's not the most durable shoe, it's a joy to run in on the trail.

The shoes are very comfortable and light. They are warm and waterproof. I've used them to walk around town and while I love them, after 2 months the inside was ripped and broken. I am sending them back but I will definitely buy the same model again: I hope it was a faulty batch of products. I have many items from Salewa including mountaineering packs and clothing that I have had for decades and the quality is generally excellent.

Delivery as usual fast and reliable. I've been wearing Salewa shoes for hiking, mountaineering and alpine terrain for many years. The fit is also perfect with this shoe (ordered one size larger). The shoe is very light with a relatively firm sole, which also has a good profile. Doesn't look bulky on the foot and is comfortable to wear. For me the perfect everyday shoe for all occasions.

Serious shoes for passionate outdoor enthusiasts. Fits like a glove. A lot of thought and care has gone into this product. A 2-year warranty is also granted. It's a private company and they don't do shit. I will buy Salewa at the moment. Excellent purchase.

Very comfortable to wear and they look really great. I bought these for hiking moderate trails and needed them to have the good grip they have. I will also use them for cycling and now wear them for general use. My only change would be to replace the laces with thicker ones as the ones that come with the kit are very thin. Tip: If you are between two shoe sizes, choose half a size larger.

They are true to size and work better than the Ultra Train 2. Glad Salewa switched to regular laces instead of the old ones that do was resolved. The new outsole is better than the old Michelin outsole and gives the shoe more stability. In my opinion the best trail runners on the market.
