Review on ZERAY Clipless Mountain Bike Pedals 9/16" With SPD Cleats - Dual Platform Design For Road, Trekking, Touring, And City Bikes - Compatible With Shimano Cranks (Cleats Included) by Brian Henley

Very poor machining. Will not release even on the lowest setting. This makes them unsafe.

These are pretty poor. Even at the lowest clamp setting they would not release my shoes. (Fortunately I put these on my recumbent trike and not my bike, or I definitely would have fallen) I couldn't figure it out till I ran my finger along the cleat holding parts. The machining is awful! There are metal burrs from the manufacturing stamp/brake -- enough to cut your finger -- that bite into the cleats. I have SPDs on 2 trikes and 4 bikes. I've never not been able to get out. One bike has comparable pair I got from Performance a while back, Forte I think. They are much better all round.Edit: 2 days later. Chrome pealing off the side I didn't touch with the Dremel. These pedals now have 30 miles on them.I took my Dremel to these and ground down the burrs. Will see if they improve on my next ride. I recommend paying the $10 more to get better quality and safer pedals.

Pros
  • Love that you can use your clip shoes or flip the pedal and use regular shoes....
Cons
  • The cost of the pedals and cleats may be higher compared to basic pedal options
