I installed this card in the PCIE slot and restarted the computer; it was automatically recognized by Windows after 3-4 minutes. Drivers are not required. It's expensive compared to other cards, but it works. Background: I recently upgraded to an SSD but still wanted to use my 4 year old Toshiba hard drive to store large files. This card helped because my motherboard only has two SATA ports. I like the speed of my SSD, but I still like the economical HDD storage. I have a 250GB SSD in my computer for the operating system and a couple of high capacity hard drives for storing large files.
