I've had two of these so far. I just wanted a simple water alarm for my second floor laundry room. This device has saved me multiple times when the washing machine drain backed up and started flowing into the laundry room. The alarm was loud enough for us to hear and quickly went off and parked the car before it was hit by water. The crucial question is whether you can hear it. For example, if you're using this for a water heater in the attic or some other remote location, consider something more sophisticated that notifies you via your smartphone. But if you're looking for something simple and straightforward, this is a great solution and has probably saved me hundreds of dollars on potential water damage repairs. Place one under the sink or anywhere there might be a water leak that you might not be able to see. Very cheap insurance.
