I bought this adapter thinking it would just plug into the existing wiring in my home, but it doesn't. Look at your wiring system before you buy it. If your wiring is as old as ours and there is NO white neutral in your house wiring, this will NOT work. They should have modern wiring with a white neutral wire. My apartment was built in the 1930's and the electrical system took decades to build. Despite the improved panel, the wiring in the room I intended to use it in is still old-school style with only one live wire and one ground wire. Both wires are rubberized black. If you just look at the wires, you won't understand what's what. I tried hooking this up to my electrical system and I couldn't get it to work. Before you buy, study your electrical system. I want to see first.
