I'm a guy with a beard. I live with a roommate. Its door is closest to the bathroom. We work in different shifts. Every morning when I get ready for work I have to dry my manly mane so I don't smell like a wet dog. My old hair dryer wasn't that loud. Until I got this. Oh God. I seriously can't hear it from behind the closed bathroom door. When the air conditioner turns on, I hear air in the vent during drying. If you have 2ft thick curly hair, you may want to choose a different dryer. This one suits short men's hair and a respectable but chic broface. The speed and sound are fine for me, but it's not super heavy or super hot. My wife also has short hair so she's fine too.
