Bought this so my husband could clean our chimney instead of paying a chimney sweep $100 each. winter to it. This 6" Rutland Poly Chimney Brush is for metal chimneys ONLY! If your chimney is not metal, you will need to purchase a wire chimney brush and vice versa. DO NOT USE A WIRE CHIMNEY BRUSH IN A METAL PIPE - IT WILL DESTROY! We have an industrial house with a wood stove. which has a 6 inch metal chimney. The ceilings in the house are only 8 feet high, so it only took him 18 feet. to get to our kiln I'm sure not even that much but when my husband was on the roof and the polisher was at the end of the extension he just shoved all that soot up the chimney and into the kiln with ease. .
