Older models are better

I bought a DMR-EZ28K to replace my old Panasonic DMR-ES20S. At first I was disappointed. After 3 months of use I still feel the same. The recording quality is good, but you have to jump through hoops to operate the device. A good 30 seconds pass after pressing the power button. before you can start any functions. During this entire waiting time, the machine flashes "HELLO". Normally I would expect the open/close button to be above the DVD tray, but that's not the case. The power button is located above the DVD tray, while the tray open/close button is located on the opposite side. Not only me but also others accidentally pressed the power button. This is not a problem as you normally use the remote control to open/close the DVD tray. Unfortunately the remote control doesn't have this feature so you have to go to the device to open/close the tray. Entering titles for your DVDs has not improved. You still need to navigate the screen using uppercase and lowercase letters. I would think that with the advent of text messaging Panasonic has modernized the subtitles features to be just as easy. I would like to refurbish my old Panasonic.
