Review on Upgraded Moroso Air/Oil Separator Catch Can Kit for Chrysler Dodge Hemi Cars, Model Years 2005-2015 by Matthew Aiono

In all my years of dealing with various high quality auto parts I have read many reviews about the Moroso Catch Can and most of them have been very positive on various websites and forums including Revain. I've had a few other simpler non-tubed surge tanks and they worked fine and were much more manageable than this Moroso. First problem: There were no assembly instructions. Second problem: for the price paid, one might think that Moroso wanted these assemblies to be at least partially assembled, e.g. B. the brass fittings and bushing. BIGGEST PROBLEM: The parts that had to be installed into the body (brass fittings and steel sleeve assembly) would not screw in properly. I greased the threads before attempting to assemble/bolt the parts together. What a nightmare! Only after 1-2 full turns do the parts stop moving. I had to remove the fittings and bushing and the aluminum threads on the body were very badly burned. Having some mechanical and machining experience it took me some time to remove the chewed aluminum threads on the body and in doing so I saw that the Moroso thread pitch did not match the thread pitch of the brass fittings and steel sleeve. resulting in the brass fittings and a steel nipple biting into the aluminum threads. Little confidence for a $138.00 catch price product when cheaper units selling for around $90-$100 are much better finished and the mating thread pitch matches the thread pitch on the aluminum housings exactly. I know this because I still have two different tackle boxes from other manufacturers and they are very easy to work with. I was finally able to screw the fittings in with a vise. great and the design/concept is great but the execution and details like the thread pitch not matching the hardware is a huge minus. My advice, if you're good with tools and you know what you're doing, this is a great trap solution, but for a beginner who just has a couple of wrenches to work with, I'd suggest looking at other simple traps.
