This is one of the few remaining DVD VCR sets that record from one medium to another, the quality is very good. VCR or DVD playback, 1080 HD playback. It can also record directly from a TV to a VCR or DVD. The remote control allows you to control these functions either from the device itself or from the remote control, even if you are recording from a VCR to a DVD. We love our industry and have never had a problem with it. I'm not an expert on the properties of different media and other technical information, but this is detailed in the product description. I read some of the negative reviews, these are not problems we have had in 4 years. we owned ours. It is used every day, usually 3-4 hours, we recommend. We have this and a Phillips that works the same way, both did very well between the two when we transferred about 300 movies from VCR to DVD.
