This power supply is well built but has poor quality control.

This power supply is well built but with poor quality control. After a complete disassembly, the only issue I had with this unit was the lack of thermal paste or gasket from the aluminum heatsink/mounting block to the frame it's attached to with 3 screws per kit. The MOSFET on the mounting block has already applied a lot of paste. Maybe I didn't have to, but I put the Arctic MX-4 on MOSFETs and screwed them together on the back and side. The soldering looks great on the board, no trace of flux. I also left the top cover open and ran a 120mm 78fpm computer fan 6" above it, attached with paint stirrers and external 3M double sided tape. removed the included 60mm fan at 14V. 6 CFM runs at 12V, 5 CFM, it's just nowhere near normal unless you're charging around 80 watts. I found a bonus screw in my PSU, I heard it rattle after I removed the PSU. All hardware was installed on the board. I subtracted a star for this as power supplies shouldn't come with an extra screw that unscrews from the top of the exposed circuit board. :(

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Not sure
